At room temperature KTaO3 is a cubic ferroelectric; on cooling it passes into an antiferroelectric phase, which is what makes it useful in ferroelectric components. It is transparent from 380 to 4000 nm and has a refractive index of 2.226 at 633 nm, so it serves as an optical window and lens material as well as a substrate. The cubic perovskite structure makes it a candidate substrate for perovskite films and for devices that need a high dielectric constant with low loss.
Standard sizes are 5×5, 10×10 and 20×20 mm at 0.5 mm thickness, orientation <100>, <110> or <111>, single or double side polished to Ra ≤ 5 Å. Special orientations and sizes are processed to customer requirement, including bevelled wafers with 1° to 45° inclination. Packed in a Class 100 clean bag inside a Class 1000 clean room.
Minimum order 10 pcs. Send the orientation, size, thickness and surface finish; special orientations are quoted from the drawing.
