The drag head is the digging device of trailing suction hopper dredger, considered one of the most important pieces of dredging equipment along with the dredge pump. The draghead primarily consists of a fixed body and a movable cover. The fixed body is connectedto the drag pipe via flanges, while the movable cover is hinged to the body through a pin shaft, allowing it to rotate between 0 and 50 degrees. This adjustability allows for the optimal suction angle based on the depth of dredging. Drag heads can be categorized into types suitable for silt, sand, or gravel, further divided into active and standard models, and by size into single or double covers.
