At 10:00 a.m. on November 7, a critical milestone was achieved in the steel girder replacement project for the 121-year-old Coastal Road Bridge on the Qingdao-Jinan High-Speed Railway. The first steel girder was successfully jacked up and transversely shifted using HCR’s proprietary technology, marking the project’s breakthrough phase.
Project Significance
- ▶Location: Sole bullet train passage between Qingdao Station and Qingdao North Station
- ▶Historic value: Built in 1901 – Shandong’s longest-serving railway steel bridge
- ▶Critical need: Four aging girders posed safety risks requiring urgent replacement
Facing extreme constraints – including zero space for large equipment, slippery surfaces, dense cabling, and structural aging – HCR delivered an innovative solution:
- ▶Deployed modular jacking & transverse shifting equipment (self-developed)
- ▶Enabled millimeter-precision maneuvering in confined spaces
- ▶Eliminated disruption to active rail lines and under-bridge traffic
"Our solution prioritized safety, economy, and operability," stated HCR’s engineering team. "This sets a new standard for heritage infrastructure rehabilitation."
With 70 years of specialized experience, HCR continues to pioneer integrated solutions that merge technical innovation with practical reliability.
