The new stainless steel variety 304NG is born!

On August 26th, Dalian Special Steel Second Steelmaking Plant successfully produced a new variety of 304NG, and all the components of the continuous casting billets met the standard requirements.

304NG, as an austenitic stainless steel, is used in the manufacturing of nuclear power equipment components.

Due to the requirements of the usage environment, the physical and chemical properties of steel are much higher than those of ordinary stainless steel.

In order to ensure the room temperature and high temperature performance of the finished product, while meeting the requirements of electric slag remelting and forging processes for steel, there are very strict requirements for the composition of continuous casting billets.

Niobium alloying is required to improve grain size while minimizing oxygen content and inclusion levels in the steel to enhance material purity.

Therefore, the smelting difficulty of this steel grade is very high.
