Casing and tubing couplings are key connecting components in OCTG systems. Defective couplings may lead to thread leakage, connection failure and serious down‑hole risks.
Major inspection items include:
1. Visual appearance: no crack, scratch, dent or corrosion on coupling surface.
2. Thread inspection: thread gauge shall be used to check thread dimension, pitch and tooth shape.
3. Hardness test: hardness shall comply with corresponding API 5CT requirements for different steel grades.
4. Dimension check: outer diameter, inner diameter and length tolerance.
5. Marking verification: steel grade, specification, standard logo are marked clearly.
