The Mexican federal government confirmed that Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as "Mr. Mencho," the leader of the "Jalisco New Generation" cartel, was killed on February 22nd.
This incident triggered large-scale retaliatory actions by drug cartels across Mexico, disrupting several key highways and impacting port operations.

Reports indicate that within hours of the incident, riots quickly spread to at least 15 states in Mexico, with Jalisco, Michoacán, and Colima being the most severely affected.
Armed individuals resorted to extreme measures such as burning vehicles, blocking highways, and engaging in armed confrontations, leading to fierce exchanges with security forces. As of now, 27 security personnel have been killed.
Following the drug cartel violence, Mexican authorities announced that operations at the largest port, Manzanillo Port, would be suspended until further notice. This port handles over 40% of Mexico's imported container business.
The temporary suspension notice stated that port operations were "temporarily suspended" and that the resumption time would be communicated to port stakeholders later.
However, hours later, the Mexican Secretariat of the Navy issued a statement claiming that all areas of the port were operating normally and that port operations were not suspended or completely closed.

This riot also severely impacted
local air and land logistics
Several airlines in the United States and Canada have urgently canceled dozens of flights to regions such as Manzanillo, Puerto Vallarta, and Guadalajara, leaving thousands of tourists stranded.
Guadalajara, as an important logistics hub, saw multiple main roads blocked, warehouse operations shut down, and land transportation congested, further exacerbating issues such as cargo delays.
We remind Mexican shippers and freight forwarders to maintain efficient communication, reasonably reserve buffer time for transportation, and develop alternative transportation plans to reduce potential delay risks.
