  • Role: Maintenance Workshop Director
  • Responsibilities: Workshop equipment repair and upkeep, technical renovation, spare parts management, team management, and safety control.
  • Interviewer: With so many years in the maintenance trade and as a workshop director, what do you see as the core responsibility of machine maintenance?
  • Jianmin Fu: Throughout my years on the job, I’ve always believed the core responsibility comes down to two things: keep the equipment stable and keep production running. Especially in our release paper workshop — coating, drying, tension control, slitting — every process relies on the machinery. Even a tiny fault can compromise the quality of an entire roll. So our job isn’t just “fix it when it breaks.” It’s about “preventing problems before they happen, repairing with precision, and recovering quickly,” so the equipment stays in peak condition, never holding production back and never leaving hidden quality risks.

  • Interviewer: Maintenance work is dirty and exhausting, with sudden emergency repairs and lots of overtime. How do you view the value of this role?
  • Jianmin Fu: The hardship is real — grease, noise, overtime, emergency call-outs are all part of daily life. But I’ve never seen it as dirty or menial work. Equipment is like the heart of production, and we are its guardians. Every time we clear a fault and get the line moving again, watching products roll off smoothly — that sense of achievement is irreplaceable. The tough moments pass, but the value of this role is unique. The more we sweat and the closer we watch, the fewer stoppages and mistakes the workshop suffers. That’s the value we maintenance workers bring.

  • Interviewer: In equipment repair, technical upgrades, and troubleshooting, what professional skills and qualities do you think an outstanding maintenance technician most needs?
  • Jianmin Fu: Working on the shop floor, you first need to understand both the machines and the process. It’s not just about mechanical repair — you have to know electrical systems, temperature controls, and tension, and understand exactly how equipment affects product quality. Second, you need to be meticulous, patient, and have sharp judgment. Many faults are hidden and demand calm, focused investigation. Third, you must be willing to take responsibility and endure hardship — never dodging, pushing away, or panicking when a breakdown hits. Most importantly, a sense of accountability always comes first. Skills can be trained, but accountability is the foundation of everything.
  • Interviewer: During peak seasons, holidays, or the middle of the night when others are resting, you often have to be on standby to keep the equipment running. How do you manage your physical and mental state?
  • Jianmin Fu: Being on call is normal for a maintenance worker, and disrupted sleep is unavoidable. Mentally, you have to stay level-headed. Only when the equipment runs smoothly can production be normal. When the line is truly running well, we can relax and rest properly, without nagging worries. After work, I try my best to set aside job-related thoughts, spend quality time with my family, and keep a regular routine — balancing work and rest so I can come back refreshed and fully focused.

  • Interviewer: Looking at today and the future, what goals and expectations do you have for your maintenance team? What would you like to say from the heart to your frontline colleagues?
  • Jianmin Fu: I hope everyone keeps striving for excellence, keeps learning new skills, and stays on pace with equipment upgrades and process improvements. I also want our whole maintenance team to be more united, more professional, and more capable of handling tough challenges — resolving minor faults before the day ends and making sure major faults never cause delays. To my fellow maintenance and production line colleagues, I want to say: You’ve all worked incredibly hard! Our posts may seem ordinary, but the responsibility we carry is far from small. As long as we care for the equipment with all our heart and give our full support to production, our efforts will be recognized, seen, and understood.
Working deep on the front lines, Jianmin Fu safeguards equipment operation with masterful skills and shoulders heavy duties with unwavering commitment. He pours himself into honing his expertise and defines true dedication by always being ready to answer the call. In an ordinary position, he writes an extraordinary story of perseverance. Through craftsmanship and collective effort, he helps keep the workshop producing steadily and leads his team forward together, building a solid equipment foundation for the company’s stable growth. Let us salute every behind-the-scenes guardian rooted on the front line.
