Overview

A fiber optic splice closure (FOSC) is the sealed enclosure that protects fused fiber joints in outdoor networks. Choosing the right closure shape, sealing method and port configuration is the difference between a network that survives 20 years of rain, heat and vibration — and one that fails after the first monsoon.

At Ningbo Deju Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., we design splice closures for real-world Latin American deployments — from the rainy Amazon duct routes to the coastal poles of Chile and the high-altitude manholes of the Andes.

1. Aerial (Pole-Mounted) Splice Closure Solutions

Black dome fiber optic splice closure mounted on aerial cable outdoor installation

Best for: Overhead FTTH distribution, rural broadband, cable TV networks, quick repair joints.

Pole-mounted closures must be lightweight, UV-resistant and securely strapped to wooden, concrete or steel poles. Our dome (vertical) closures and compact horizontal inline closures are the most common choices for aerial work — they hang under the messenger wire without swinging in the wind.

Recommended Products

🇪🇨 Case: Rural FTTH Expansion — Ecuador. A local telecom contractor deployed our 48-core dome closures on wooden poles along rural routes near Guayaquil. The closures handled 6 months of coastal humidity and storms with zero field failures.

2. Wall-Mounted / Building-Facade Splice Closure Solutions

Best for: FTTB entry points, multi-dwelling unit (MDU) entrances, office building fiber terminations, campus networks.

Wall-mount closures are installed on the exterior wall of buildings, parking garages or telecom cabinets. They need a neat, compact footprint and a re-enterable seal — because buildings are frequently re-wired.

Recommended Products

🇧🇷 Case: MDU Broadband Upgrade — Brazil. A carrier integrator in São Paulo used our 24-core horizontal closures on the exterior walls of apartment buildings during a 5,000-unit MDU upgrade. Mechanical sealing let field technicians re-open closures on-site to add new drop fibers without replacing hardware.

3. Manhole / Duct / Direct-Buried Splice Closure Solutions

Best for: Underground feeder routes, metro rings, city duct networks, handhole pits.

Buried and manhole closures face the harshest environment: standing water, soil pressure, temperature cycling and rodents. They must be IP68, pressure-tested and housed in a reinforced polymer or PC+ABS shell.

Recommended Products

🇨🇱 Case: Metro Duct Network — Chile. A Santiago-based network builder installed our 144-core horizontal closures in underground manholes along a 35 km metro fiber ring. The closures went through two full winters with rain and flooding — no water ingress reported.
🇵🇪 Case: Coastal Buried Network — Peru. For a fiber project near Lima's coastal desert, our 96 core dome closures were direct-buried in sandy soil. UV-protected housing and mechanical sealing survived the harsh coastal sun and salt air.

4. Splicing Method Solutions

Beyond where the closure goes, how you splice inside it drives tray design.

4.1 Fusion Splicing (Permanent Backbone)

Fusion-spliced fibers are stored on modular splice trays. Our closures support:

Best for: Long-haul and metro feeder cables that should not be re-opened frequently.

4.2 Mid-Span / Mid-Cable Access (Branch Off a Live Feeder)

When a feeder cable must be split without dropping the whole line, our 1-inlet multi-outlet closures (dome types with 4–6 ports) let field crews open the feeder jacket, extract the needed fibers, and leave the rest intact.

Best for: FTTH PON distribution where new homes are added over time.

4.3 Mechanical Re-enterable vs. Heat-Shrink Sealing

Sealing TypeBest ForRe-openable?
Mechanical seal (M)Networks that will expand, re-enterable joints, FTTH distributionYes — reusable
Heat-shrink seal (S)Permanent backbone splices, cost-sensitive projectsNo — one-time

We supply both. Tell us whether your network will grow or stay static, and we will recommend the right sealing.

5. Latin American Delivery Experience

Need a Custom Solution?

Tell us:

  1. Where the closure goes (aerial / wall / manhole / buried)
  2. How many fibers (12 to 576)
  3. How many cable in/out ports you need
  4. Mechanical or heat-shrink sealing

We will recommend the exact SKU and send a sample within 7 days.
