Tank Container

An ISO tank container is a stainless steel pressure vessel mounted inside a secured external frame, so it moves like a standard container while carrying liquids, liquefied gases or dry powders in bulk. The vessel is normally 316 stainless steel, insulated and fitted with the equipment fluid handling demands — steam or electric heating, inert gas protection and pressure-reducing devices — and units are designed to operate in ambient temperatures from -40C to +50C.

Choosing one comes down to four decisions. What you are carrying: the UN number and hazard class drive the tank type and the approval codes, and food-grade cargoes need a different lining and cleaning regime from industrial chemicals. Tank type: standard liquid tanks, heated units for bitumen and viscous products, dry bulk tanks for cement and powders, gas tanks (T50 and T75), swap body units for road and rail, and DNV 2.7-1 offshore IBCs. Capacity: 20ft units take around 25,000 to 26,000 litres, with 10ft and 40ft alternatives. Approvals for your route: ADR and RID for road and rail in Europe, IMDG for sea, USDOT for the United States, plus UIC and CSC for international movement.

Every unit is built to a full-frame beam design without a saddle, to ASME VIII Div. 1 and ISO 1496-3, and coated to 120 µm DFT. Class certification is available, and each tank ships with the paperwork you need to place it in service: the initial inspection certificate, calibration chart, cleaning certificate and as-built drawings.
